Set-up completed

22.06.2019

Today was a special day in many ways. After we got up at 6 o'clock in the morning, we took the first gondola to the glacier. This gondola, which only runs twice a day, is also for the workers and supplies.

Arriving at the top, we assembled our experiment the whole morning. After lunch we were able to make some small additions, such as better insulation against snow. Finally our experiment was on the Klein-Matterhorn and ready for a first test!

Taking the experiment outside to the right place was more difficult than expected. When we finally made it and the experiment was standing in the pre-digged hole, the first tests could be carried out. Dark clouds did not leave us much time. However, we could successfully show that the spikes melt into a layer of ice and snow and the drill works as well.

It was a long and exhausting day for the whole team. The altitude sickness crept in during the day like a poison, so that each of us was happy when we could finally go down into the valley in the afternoon.

From now on we can fully concentrate on the test phase. Visit our photo gallery for further impressions.
